About Us

Forty Three years of dedicated service in the Nenagh community

The Nenagh Lions Club was founded forty three years ago in 1972 by it's inaugural President, Mr. Richard Fogarty.

It's primary objective was and is to help individuals and families in need of support while actively involving itself in the civic, social, educational and cultural needs of the local community. The clubs continued success is due in no small way to the generosity and support of the people of Nenagh adn surrounding districts. Over the festive season of 2014, the club spent in excess of seven thousand euro, supporting  over eighty families and individuals in need of assistance.

Nenagh Lions Club has been involved in several major community projects over the past four decades, including : the purchase of a site and the provision of equipment for the day care centre at cudville, the provision of medical equipment for the cardiac unit at Nenagh hospital and likewise St Conlon's home. The club also sponsors education and community awareness programmes covering topics such as, suicide, drug and alcohol mis-use, depression, bullying and peer pressure. In 2014, the club purchased a purpose built facilty for after hours care at the Nenagh Childcare creche, situated behind the civic offices.

The club has also given financial assistance and support to a host of other projects, including community training, the hospice movement, day trips for our serior citizens, transportation for the order of malta, bawnmore and St Annes school transport. The Lions club were also delighted to be associated with the great work of the Nenagh Choral society in renovating the scouts' hall.

This year, we are delighted to have the opportunity to support the local Ormond branch of the CCE in hosting the Munster Fléadh Chéoil which will be hosted in Nenagh for the first time. We wish them every success in what will be a wonderful occasion for the area.

The clubs' fundraising summer projects include the annual golf classic, the annual family fun day cycle. Our annual christmas food appeal is hugely supported adn thanks to the generosity of the Nenagh public, allows us to support up to eighty families in need of assistance.

This year to supplement our on-going fundraising activities, we are launching our ' friends of Nenagh Lions Club'. This will allow us to better deal with the ever increasing demands on the club's finances. Individuals are invited to actively support the club by becoming a ' friend of Nenagh Lions Club', by contributing five euro per month through the standing order form which is available for download from the site or by clicking the donate now button.

The Nenagh Lions Club is a completely non-profitable voluntary group where every euro collected goes directly into the local community. No members receive any payment in respect of works carried out on behalf of the club and all expenses are met by the members themselves.

We thank you sincerely for you on-going support and generosity.

Ní neart gur cur le chéile,

Martin Slattery, 2015 Lions Club President.
